The BPBHA exists to represent the interests of its members to the Marina management and other relevant bodies. This site is designed to keep members up-to-date with BPBHA activities and to provide access to the Committee and other members.
We hope you find our website interesting and informative. Please let us know if you think it can be improved further.
Birdham Pool Berth Holders Association was formed in 2008 at around the time that the marina was purchased by Castle Marinas Ltd. The marina is now owned by Aquavista Waterside. The relationship between the marina owners and the Association has developed well since and both berth holders and the marina management have recognised the benefits of having a representative organisation devoted to enhancing the experience of keeping a boat in Birdham Pool.
Birdham Pool was originally developed in the late 1930's from one of the last working tidal mill pools in Sussex, and is the oldest marina in the UK. The original mill building dating from the 19th century still stands, with the access lock beside it.
The BPBHA currently represents a significant number of berth holders, and takes up issues with management such as security, marina development, access, and general amenities of the marina.
The elected Committee meets quarterly to discuss points of interest and the Chairman also has regular meetings with the marina management team to raise issues of concern or common interest. Information resulting from both meetings is fed back to members.
Giving all berth holders at Birdham Pool a single voice for their opinions and suggestions. The more members we have, the stronger our voice – so please join us. It’s easy and economical to become a member, with multiple benefits.
Every member, in return for the modest membership fee, has the opportunity to raise concerns, to propose ideas or suggestions that could improve any aspect of life on the water in Birdham Pool, and to vote on issues at berth holders’ meetings. BPBHA members can also attend our meetings and social events.
Membership is open to all boat owners and occupiers of berths in the Pool. There is a nominal £10 annual fee and the renewal date is on 1st April. Membership forms are available from the Secretary - see contact details for information, on line on this website (see Join BPBHA on the menu item on the left). The forms are also available in the marina office. Simply complete the form and either email it or post it to the Secretary at the address shown on the form or hand it to any of the committee located at berths as shown in the contact details.
